Code 29 in a 94 Z

Code 29 is a code for the air system. What should I look for, or what can i test to get rid of this, it kicks my ses light on as soon as the car warms up, or starts, and kicks the fans on. If i just get rid of all of the air system, would that get rid of the light?

ok i'll tell ya how.....

first put the car on ramps

1. remove the pipes that come out of the exhaust manifolds (both sides)

2. remove the rubber tubing thats connected to the air intake (this isn't the elbow, this is rubber lines that go down towards the ground)

3. remove the 3 bolts that hold the air pump to the block

4. disconnect the harness that plugs into the air pump and also rubber hoese as well.

5. take a dremel tool and cut out the metal line that runs to both sides of the engine, its about 3/4 inch think, right against the front of the oil pan. tou can't miss it.

your gonna make 3 cuts on this pipe, be carful and dont forget to remove the bolt (1) that holds the pipe to the engine, otherwise its gonna get caught up

here are some sites:

first one is for 93 only .. but its similar!!!!!

For your car you can probably get away with just unplugging the electrical connection to the AIR pump and then putting in a good fuse (the blown fuse triggers the SES). See if that does not work. Of course, if it does, you can junk any part of it you want to.

Is it a fuse or a relay?

There are both. Understand that you should be able to unplug the pump connector and make sure the fuse is in and good to keep the SES off. This is for an OBDI car.

i just replaced the fuse, and kept the pump plugged in, over 40 miles on it, and it didn't blow yet. so hopefully if i keep my fingers crossed it won't come back
