Im getting a code 16 and 36 . It basically says that im loosing a signal to my distributer. While driving....my car just cuts out....I wait a couple minutes and sometimes it will start and sometimes it just trys, but dies right away. I have no warning its going to happen it just dies. Is this a common problem with the optispark? I thought the cap and rotor usually go bad. Can you replace just the pickup in the opti? It is less then a year old. I replaced the coil with an msd one I had laying around just to see if it would help, and it did nothing.

 

Replacing the coil wouldn't help, since the computer is telling you it's opti related. Maybe your opti harness has corrosion.
