coated LT's in the winter?

Hey, I am wondering how coated long tubes hold up to road salt and winter conditions. I may install some lt's during my winter break from school but i would wait untill spring if the salt would cause them to discolor and rust.

Thanks,
Nick

I won't even drive it in the rain. Getting them coated is REALLY expensive. You don't want to ruin it. They hang down really low too which exposes them to salt, snow, etc a lot. I can't believe you are driving the car in the winter. I did that the first year I had it and I will never do it again. Its nice to see another WI guy on here. If you woulda posted this 1 month ago you could have had my 86 Buick with 106K original miles for 100 bucks. It ran great. Too bad I sold it.

Well, i think i am going to get coated ones so its not so hot under the hood, most people say to get them coated, damn, too bad about that buick, i prolly would have bought it. I bought the car from my uncle in july, who was the original owner. He drove it year round and there are no signs of rust anywhere. He lived in idaho tho, so i'm not sure if they used as much salt as we do but the way this year is going i'm not sure how much salt we will actually see.

My Jet Hot coated headers started rusting after about 2 or 3 months. Its mostly the collector area that sits closest to the ground. I do drive in winter thus alot of salt collects there. But I sprayed this area with water to get the salt off when I washed my car every 1-2 weeks in my dad's heated shop. Still they have rusted more. I'm sure salt has played a major role in my case but others have reported rust problems as well in areas that don't see salt. I really think they will rust no matter what it is just a matter of time. My advice is get them coated for the heat protection not rust protection. If you go into it thinking the coating will stop rust most likely you will be disappointed like me.
