To coat, or not to coat??

I'm in the market for some longtubes. Is it worth the 130 extra to get pacesetter coated rather than painted. What do ya think?

Coated is the only way to go. Better preformance, lower under hood temps, and they won't look like crap in just a few months.

the paint, especially on pacesetters will not last! I coated a set of headers (pacesetters) for a guy one time and there was a sticker on the factory paint that said it is not a high-temp paint,... but, yes, ceramic is well worth it!

I've had both and after having the coated headers I'll never buy another set uncoated.

If you dive your car in the winter, the coating on the collectors will disinagrate and leave you with rust. That is the only part that rusted on mine. At least the underhood temps are still good and no one could tell unless they were under the car Just thought I would add my .03

your coating came off in the winter? that's really wierd! well, seems wierd, i haven't heard of anyone else having that problem. i'm curious now if that's common (not like i have to worry about it in FL though...).

Re: To coat, or not to coat??

I have never heard of the coating coming off in the winter... kinda scared now as I live in Michigan and get stuck in the snow a few times before I store my TA. That aside, I agree with everyone else who says get the coating - it looks better, performs better, and protects underhood components from heat. Do it right the first time and save yourself the money later on.

Re: To coat, or not to coat??

Yeah put em on last summer and spring I got to looking and I was like What the hell! I think it might be from the salt from the roads is all I can think. Anyway I am happy that its just the under car area that did it . Either way if I had known it would have done this before I got the headers I would have still gone with the coated ones

Another vote for coating. Sold my uncoated Macs, to now purchase a set of coated pacesetters.
