Clutch slave and/or master?
Clutch slave and/or master?
Hello, my clutch is acting a little strange lately. It doesn't seem to slip, nor do I smell it burning but yet the clutch is catching higher in the pedal. After talking to a friend, he said it may be the slave and/or master. My question is; how do I further troubleshoot this, how hard is it to replace, and how expensive are the parts. Thanks.
My friends just went out on his 98 v6 camaro. His master that is....nissan dealership charged him 300 bucks to replace it(but thats where his dad works, so he MIGHT have gotten a better deal.)
I think its pretty hard to changed, its internal...but ive never replaced one so I dont know.

I think my dealer charged me $205 for the clutch slave/master and install. Do you have a stock clutch? With an performance clutch its always suggested toget new hydrolics espeicaly if you have alot of miles on the original ones. High pedal could be signs of the surface of the disk wearing down, which means its getting ready to slip, most of the time anyway.
if it's the slave, that's a relatively easy repair. all you'll need in that case is a new slave (~$60~ from NAPA) and 2 cans of DOT 3 brake fluid. email me if you end up needing to replace it and i can give you a few tips.
