Clutch question..about flywheel
I called SLP today to order a clutch for my car and one guy told me that the warranty on it would not be valid unless I got a NEW flywheel. Another guy I talked to said that he highly recommends that I replace the flywheel (whether it be SLP's or another brand's). They also told me that it is not advisable to machine the flywheel as it is too thin and could warp or break if it is machined.
I have no idea how what the specs are of the flywheel and/or if it can be machined. What do you guys think? I really can't justify spending $300 on a new flywheel when $40 will do to resurface it. Have you guys resurfaced it and had any probs?

you can get a flywheel resurfaced. however there is not a 100% gurentee that you wont have any problems. reason is that you cant shave it too much or it will warp. if you go to a repitable machine shop that has done them before you should have no problem. i had one of mine machined and something wasnt right so they gave me a core charge on another. i would atleast get one resurfaed if not replace with a new one
I took my flywheel to get it resurfaced when I did my clutch/pressure plate back in April. I haven't had any problems.
I didn't exactly measure it, but the stock flywheel seems to have plenty of beef in it to machine.
