clutch pedal had different feel

the clutch pedal does not feel real strong. in the newer cars the pedal comes up pretty quick and pushes pretty hard as it comes up. mine does not push really hard when it is coming up. it does come up but without much force. what makes the pedal come back up? does this have to do with the slave or master cylinder? is there a spring in there that pushes it back up? any help would be great.

If it got significantly softer, i would think you may have a leak in one of the lines, maybe the master cyl is upset.

it really didn't get softer. it was this way when i bought the car and i just drove a new mustang gt and it had much more spring than mine does. however, it may be the master cylinder.

Probably just the clutch, if its always been that way, maybe the pressure plate. Get a new clutch and pressure plate along with an adjustable master cyl and it should strighten it out. those Mustangs do have a pretty stiff clutch pedal, but a few hard lanches on a test drive and few mild downshifts, and they soften up like a crushed grahm crackers.

Mustangs are a cable type, not hydraulic like a Camero. They always feel quicker. I'm beginning to like hydraulics less and less.
