clutch grinding once in a while-is she on her last days?

I know with some of the upgrades I have the clutch won't hold up as well, but I expected it to last a while since I really don't rag on it unless I'm at the track, but it seems to be going and wanted some confirmation. It only grinds out in first at the top of the pedal above 2000 rpm as I let it out, when it happens it falls flat on its face then grabs. I don't have any other signs like slipping clutch where the rpms rise and the car doesn't move.

synchros maybe? Grinding as you let it out means more than likely that the gear is not all the way engaged.

Try this, roll in first gear without touching the clutch just leave it in first, and press the gas slowly. If you here a griding or whine, you have what alot of have in the 93-97 t56's. Not sure what the issue is called, anyone? If your in first and rolling and hear this chatter its usally not the clutch cus its engaged already.

yea it sounds like the trans is straining or something. your talking about when your ideling along in first and then hit the gas slowly right and it makes the sound. i thought it was normal??? im almost positive its always been there. i ahve no problem changing gears EVER. so what does this mean?? i need a rebuild.

Everyone with a M6 LT1 go and try it and tell me what u hear.

I know what your talkin about I've always had some wierd noise sometimes grinding like, I think everyone gets that noise, this one is different. I have been trying different things to make sure and my clutch will grind sometimes in other gears. I reved it up to about 3500 rpm in 4th while switching gears and it made the grinding noise. After reading over all the search pages, I read that if the engine doesn't engage until the clutch pedal is up all the way then its time is up. I have since looked to see and the clutch doesn't engage until the very, very top so at the least my clutch must be on its last leg. I just hope there are no other problems like syncros or something else. I only noticed the grinding after my cam install, so maybe that ittle extra power must be just a tad to much for the stocker to handle.
