My stock clutch went out at around 100k miles also. I replaced it with a cheap clutch from Advance autoparts and had it installed. The total was only like $500. Bad - bad decision on my part. At the time I thought it was cool because it had the lifetime warranty - but everytime I want to get on it now, instead of catching, it slips some. You get what you pay for

Last trip to the track mine went out. My last run i launched the hell out of it and on each shift the rpms went to redline then dropped back down and grabbed. Thats when i found out i had a slipping clutch. Went home and it cooled down a bit. It slipped mainly in 3rd and 4th gear under load like up a hill or something. I replaced mine with the SLP PP and Clutch disk. Drives like the stock one but grabs great. I use to couldnt chirp the tires shifting to 3rd very easy. Now with the SLp clutch I spin the tires a tad goin into 3rd.

If i stomp on the gas, i see this rpm jump/slipping symtom myslef, whats funny though is after a second or 2 the car seems to catch up to the speed of the tach, it doesnt fall. Is this the same thing your talking about, or is this just the engine opening up and bogging down, like an auto matic where your stomp the gas and the tach climbs 1500 rpms before the car really starts going?

Yes. Thats exactly how mine felt. Reminded me of my old A4 Camaro.

Mine still gets some rubber on the 1/2 shift pretty good, I think I'll replace mine this fall because it's pretty far out on the pedal now...I may have some slippage in 1st but I'm not really sure...

The best way to see is put your car in 6th gear at about 50mph and press the pedal all the way to the floor. If it bogs then your clutch isnt slipping or isnt slipping that bad. If the rpms just start to raise and you dont start bogging then your clutch is slipping. Mine did this ALOT.

I have been having the same problems, and I am gonna fix it this weekend. One question though how will I know if the flywheel needs to be resurfaced?

Something weird happend to my clutch. One night, I was by myself and on a back road with a nice straight away ahead. I stopped, revved to about 3200- 3500, and let the clutch go. I slipped it a little to keep tire spin to minimum. shifted into 2nd, FINE, went to hit 3rd and dumb ol me hit 5th instead. Car revved up to about 5500, then I let off, and it came right back down. my z has 75000 on it and has never slipped before, even at the track. Is it on its way out?? Or just a slight mishap?

Its either about to go out on you or you just heat soaked it and it slipped temporarily
