Which clutch/flywheel to get ?

Hey guys, well the guys that were working on my car pulled off my clutch (had to to get to the messed up oil pan!) and gave me a call to tell me to get a new clutch. I don't have the cash now but I know I'm going to do the clutch soon. What is a good clutch for under 400hp that is good in streetability and can take some beating? Money is an issue. I also need to get a flywheel because mine has a few burn marks in it. TIA!

A good upgrade from stock would be an LT4 pressure plate along with a stock LT1 disc. It's the same clutch disc but the LT4 PP offers a little more clamping force. That is what SLP sells in their clutch package except that they drill the PP for lightening and quicker release they say. Also you may not have to replace your flywheel, if it's just glazed and not warped or anything it can be resurfaced for $50 or less by a machine shop. Your mechanic should know that, he may just be trying to sell you a new one

What would be a good clutch to compliment that SLP package? Thanks for the reply.

The price they list of $259.00 is just for the pressure plate & to bearing. The disc they sell is the stock LT1 for $89.00, they sell the total package for like $350 or so I believe. Some people have used that pp with other discs like a Mcleod. That one is a good bit stronger than stock from what I hear. If this disc starts to slip I will probably replace it with that one.

I'm looking at this setup from SLP and it's in my price range, what's a good flywheel to go along with it as well?

I havn't heard anything negative about SLP's flywheel, it sounds very nice. It's not cheap though, it costs almost as much as the clutch/pp together. I just reused my stock one, got it resurfaced for $50 and it's worked great. SLP may tell you that the clutch needs to be used with their flywheel (what a surprise!) but plenty of people use their resurfaced stock one with no problems.
