Clutch chatter driving me insane! help!!
I have had a Spec stage II kevlar clutch with an LT4 pressure plate installed in my 97 Z28 for about 3500-4000 miles now and I cant take much more of this clutch chatter. I went through two different flywheels, both resurfaced didnt change anything. I broke the clutch in with easy driving for about 500 miles or so. Most people said this goes away or atleast isnt as bad once you get some miles on it, but mine hasnt changed. I am very close to pulling that clutxh out and sending back to Spec. When starting in first or reverse it honostly sounds like the rear end and tranny are blowing up. Sometimes it is worse than other times not sure why. Does anyone know whatsup with this thing or is that just part of having a performance clutch? if its normal im taking the clutch out and going stock.
Thanks for any help.

My McLeod Dual Performance clutch will do that if you are too easy on it, it'll chatter and the car will vibrate violently.
You just have to get used to it and learn how to ride it. It's like learning to drive stick all over again.

Tell you what,
I clutch started slipping as soon as I went with n2o. Now, a friend of mine said, I don't need to order a new set, he knows a shop here in Hungary which is specialized in reinforcing clutches. What they do is putting stronger springs in the disk, reinforceing the pressure plate and resurfacing the whole PP/flywheel assembly to very close specs. This way, the flywheel/disk/pressure plate will contact each other with max area, so there'll be more grip. They are also putting some special material on the disk paddles (sp?)
All this for about $80. I thought I might try to go this way, before I order a McLeod Street Twin

My SPEC chattered a little bit before I smoked it last year. (my fault) and now it drives softer than the stocker and seems to hold better! I couldnt belive it, I thought I had ruined my 6 month old clutch when in actuallity its been great for it.
