Which Clutch???

Friend of mine is looking at running low 11s on et streets or slicks with his 500HP 383.. I told him to get the Mcleod Street Twin but he got the Spec Stage 3 with a 12lb aluminum flywheel...

IS this a good setup for a car that will be running low 11s on slicks or et streets??

Either is fine. Lots of people prefer the Street Twin because it has a better reputation. The Stage III Spec re-designed theirs a while ago. It has gotten some bad press but I've yet to determine if the bad press also includes the improved newer design.

Someone posted a message a while back that was very wise. "How often do you see a thread discussing how bad the Stage III is?"

I think with the new stage IIIs it depends wether he went with a carbon or ceramic disk. Carbon should drive a little smoother but they are suppose to be rated up to 650hp. For the price I think they are good clutches but Im about to install my stage II in a day or two. We'll see how that goes.

Light flywheels ARE NOT FOR DRAG RACING!! they are for road racing. Heaver steel flywheels carry more inertia for launching and that is why they are preferred for drag racing.

Email Mcleod or SPEC and ask there Tecs...They will tell you the same!!
