Cloyes Gear Driven timing set...

I know these work on older sbc chevy's.. However, I was curious if this would work on our lt1 engines. I was pretty sure since everything was done by the camshaft this would not work, however I thought I would ask to make sure.

This is basically what they look like if someone is unfamilar.

Re: Cloyes Gear Driven timing set...

Yes it would work, with some heavy modification to the timing cover and usage of an electric water pump, but those people who have done the conversion have resorted back to traditional chain drive (double or single roller), simply because the noise of a gear drive induces a ton of knock. I can't think of one person who has kept the gear drive.

I would stick with a chain drive. I'm using the Cloyes double roller, and have nothing but good things to say.

I defiantly dont want to have to deal with knock issues. I think the cloyes double roller will be my best bet.

Thanks for the information.
