Exclamation Cloud of smoke comes out when start my car

When i drive around and turn my car off and on, and when i turn it on again, a medium sized cloud of smoke comes from the exhaust. What could that mean?

Is the smoke blue or white?

Smoke is blue, it only happens once the car has been ran and it doesn't happen on every start.

blue smoke is oil. most likely it is the valve guide seals.

Pull the heads and have them done at a machine shop. Not easy but your best option. Or buy a used set off here or ebay for 200 and slap them on and call it a day

Replace the valve rubbers. You can buy or rent a valve spring compressor and change them your self. On a scale of 1 to 10 it about a 7 because you must make sure the valve does not fall into the cylinder. the best way to do that is to bring the piston to top dead center and when your done you can re-adjust the rocker arms on that cylinder.

Just a time consuming process- when I did them on a friends car- we took the time to swap plugs too- I took a small length of rope and inserted it into the spark plug hole- about 6-8" worth and then rotated the engine by hand until it was tight- the rope will be sure to keep your valves from dropping down at all- making your job even easier.

If you have a leakdown tester(of crafty you can make a tool) to put compressed air in the cylinder. Then you can remove the valve springs without dropping the valve, It is a good idea to take a hammer and lighly peck the valve springs to unstick the keepers before you compress the spring.
