the other day i was driving and my car died and then i stared it back up and i got a ses light. so i went to work got in it later stared up no ses light. went home scand it code 36 was on there. i didnt clear the code off the car. then today i got another ses light so i thouht it was the opti code again. but it was code 26 i forgot to plug the IAT sensor back in. but when i scand it the code 36 was not on there any more. so will the car clear the code if it is not present any more???

 

Some codes clear themselves from memory after a predetermined number of drive cycles that the code does not appear again.
