Cleaning out TB

Will it help at all?I looked at mine, and around and behind the butterflies, its not that clean looking :P (just imagine a real dirty 100K TB)

will it help me any if i actually clean it up, and make it like new?

i mean afterall, its just dirty looking, not like clogged or anything

Don't expect to notice a power difference or anything, but it might "breate" a little better and cleaning anything in the car is ALWAYS a good thing...

I just cleaned mine last weekend. My car is just shy of 75,000 and the TB was filthy dirty. I decided to clean it because I had an airfoil and new gasket laying around. You won't notice any SOTP gains but your throttle response should feel a little better.

I didn't notice any gain, but I'm sure it wasn't at it's peak performance with all that crap on it.

Scroll down for a before and after shot of mine here.

Well Kev, to get the bulk of the buildup off, I just used a toothbrush and some carb cleaner. Then I used a dremel with a metal brush attatchment to shine up the outside and used Mother's Metal Polish to polish up the blades and the inside. It was more effort than it was worth--I was just bored I guess.

Be sure to lubricate the ends of the rod (that the butterflies mount on) where they enter the body. After cleaning mine, I found that the rpms would hang (idle wouldn't drop back). After lubricating the rod no more issues!
