cleaning intake manifold

I have a used manifold that is painted red, but it has quite a bit of oil and grease on it. How can I clean it inside and out myself without ruining it or messing up the paint. I would say just soap and water, but I don't know if it would mess it up somehow, or if it would even get this grease off of it.
Any ideas??

Just take it to a car wash and use the engine degreaser they have and power wash the inside out. That will get most of the crud out. There might be a light film left on the inside of the intake. You could just leave it like that or you could get some brake cleaner to spray in there to get it perfectly clean. Although the brake cleaner will take paint off. I've used the power wash method on several intakes. Just blow it out with compressed air when you are done and obviously let it dry for a day or so before you try to slap it on.

Simple green is amazing stuff. That's what I plan on using when I clean my intake this week.
