Cleaning IAC

Now im cleaning the Iac and im looking at a haynes manual it says to move the pintle in and out? Well mine doesnt , is this normal or not normal? I was having problems keeping it idling while it was warmed up, would rev up and down. I would have to keep the break and gas pushed down so it wouldnt die, but drove fine just wouldnt idle too good?

Re: Cleaning IAC

Don't push it in, that will just ruin it, learnt that the hard way. Cleaning the idle air passages in TB with carb spry seems to help stablilze idle a lot.

Re: Cleaning IAC

I also ruined mine. I would just do what he said, make sure you get air intake cleaner/tb cleaner because ive heard carb cleaner can hurt FI cars but I don't necessarily think that is true.

Re: Cleaning IAC

And do not let the cleaner drip into the pintle motor. The instructions are to point to pintle toward the ground and spray with cleaner. Also, be sure to clean the IAC seat in the throttle body.
