Get the engine hot, spray about a bottle of Carb cleaner down the TB. Use something lighter on the MAF lines, they are easily broken, and change the plugs.

Whole can through the brake booster cable. It took me 25 miles to blow it all out. But it sure was fun fogging the hell out of everything. Gosh, I love seafoam

Edit: Just for a few facts. My engine has been seafoamed since day one every 10,000 miles. Plugs, opti and O2's did not have to be changed until 153,000 miles. Plugs looked like they could have been in longer, but Opti crap went, so I figured it was a good time to change them. 10,000 miles later and still no problems.

ok guys dumb question but what is seafoam and where can i get it?? and what do you do to use it?? do you just take off the elbow and spray it in the throttle body while the engine is hot? running or off?? and giving it gass to blow it out?? and what is fogging???? im confused it sounds good to do because it cleans the engine and why would you spray stuff down your brake booster cable?? doesnt that just deal with brakes?? im sorry im dumb i just dont get it????

Eac the brake booster line he refers to is conected to the Intake manifold.... The brakes use the intake manifold vacum to aid in the braking process... when you disconect that hose and car is runing you will get that wonderfull succion feeling.....errr (grin) I mean... you get vacum and if you let any liquid in the vacum it will get sucked (oh god yes) right into your Intake manifold and into your combustion chambers... it will defenetely get to the carbon if ya know what I mean.

SeaFoam comes in a metal can about the size of a brake cleaner spray can... I have never used it but I have heard a lot about it..

Whats fogging? well all that cloud of white smoke that will come out of your tail pipes... will defenetely fog whoever is behind you..... almost as smoking a mustang kinda thing.. grin

Well, this is what I've done since day one. Seafoam can be found at NAPA and Carquest. First off, I've noticed on some Z28's that the engine will die when the brake booster line is removed. This can be fixed by unplugging the MAF which will cause the RPMs to shoot up a bit. I use a full can through the brake booster line every 10,000 miles or so.

Approximately 3/4 of the can should be poured into the line. Do this slowly as to not stall out the engine. Use the last 1/4 of the can to stall it out. With the RPMs this high it may be difficult to stall out the engine. Best bet would be to have a person in the driver's seat ready to shut the engine off. So.....make sure that the engine stalls out WITH seafoam in the cylinders.

Let the car sit for approximately 15-20 minutes. Plug the MAF and brake booster line back in. In the meantime, seafoam also makes a throttle body cleaner called Deep Creep. I use this 15-20 minutes to thoroughly clean out the TB. I open the blades up and brush the cars teeth (so to speak). Wipe it out real well with a towel, its not a big deal if some is left over in the TB. Hook everything back up and start the car. It will be difficult to start. Just keep cranking and work the gas pedal. Take it through the most crowded classy neighborhood you can find and fog the hell out of it. Make sure you get on it a bit. Don't stop driving until you blow it all out. You will notice a difference as soon as you start driving. Trust me.... This would also be a good time to replace the O2 sensors. Some people have said that seafoam fouls out the O2's which makes sense, but I've never had a problem I swear by the stuff. Every 10,000 miles since day one. 163,000 miles to date. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. Purrs like a kitten..... Good Luck!

I finally DID IT!!! errr the Sea Foam I mean

I pulled the Brake boster line out then let it rest just on top of the booster conector... crank the car up... then used my finger to control the vacum on the vacum hose and slowly pur Sea Foam on it... I did it slowly untill the friggin car was smoking sooo much I almost choked!! /// fumes were coming out of the tail pipes and under the car... I turned her off and then waited about 10 minutes...

God Dayum!!!! I never made it to Kahala!!! I ended up foggin my own neighborhood until I was so embarassed I had to park her and turn her off... Cars behind me drove with the lights on cause could not see a dang thing...

so after I finally had oxygen back in my neighborhood I cranked her up to make a quick getaway from the area but Dang!! she didnt smoke anymore!!!

I did the remaining of the Sea Foam then but she just did not smoke anymore... I guess she got her pipes cleaned out (grin). and yes it does feel different... gets up to cruising speeds without any effort ... or so it feels..

Marvin,

sorry i didn't check back. I saw an ad for Daiei this week, SeaFoam and TransTune were just $4.99 ea

also, you gotta buy the Deep Creep in the spray can

that's like top end cleaner in a can. spray the **** out of your throttle body while someone steps on the gas.

see... i told you going to Kahala was better... bwahahahaa!
