Thumbs up Cleaned my TB and MAF

I took off the TB completely to clean it up..the inside part was pitch BLACK from crap in there....the front part that you see if you dont take it off was aight. Its amazing how much crap was in there. I highly recommend you guys take off the TB to clean it up, MUCH easier to deal with and can clean it up alot better.

Car runs MUCH smoother, and revs quicker. Im happy. Now if I can only figure out why the hell my car is hesitating

Thanks for the tip. How long do you think it took you from start to finish. The TB doesn't look too hard to take offl. And I'm guessing your used carburetor cleaner or brake cleaner?

I'm guessing you reccomend this as opposed to the TB removal?

Also, can I clean the MAF with seafoam, or shoud I get some other cleaner.

Great guide by the way!!

I took mine off to clean it and did a bypass at the same time. I used TB cleaner and it worked pretty good.

It's a good idea to have a new one. I replaced mine. They don't cost but a couple of dollars and if you don't you might tear the one you have and wish you did buy one.

Use caution when cleaning the MAF, seriosuly. YES the gasket for the TB is reuseable as long as you do not tare it, it comes right off and it very easy. Make sure you remove any electrical sensors before cleaning it, and clean the IAC valve as well, thats most important to clean.
hope this helps

When you remove the IAC don't move the position of the plunger(or whatever that dealybobber is called). It can be damaged if it is forced in or out.

Ok...taking the TB off is easy...4 bolts, and then take off the throttle cables, and then unplug it...comes right off. Have an extra gasket available.
Took prolly an hour for all of that(hard to tell cause i was also doing my friends, so we were going back and forth) I took my time and did it right.

I could not however get the IAC sensor out...cause you have to use those lil hex keys, and it was on there soo tight it stripped it..so i dont konw how to get it off. Oh well.

OH yea, I jes used the carb and choke cleaner at Discount auto for the TB...and used a tooth brush to scrub it. Came right off, no need to order deep creep or anything(unless you plan on using it for something else).

Use electrical cleaner on the MAF

Seafoam is like an all-in-one treatment. You can pour it into you gas or into a vaccum line and let your motor suck it in, you can even put it in your motor oil , it crazy. It will only smoke for like 5-15 minutes or so, no big deal. I've never used it, but some ppl on this board seem to stand by it.

you pour it first, and then let it sit for 15 minutes, then start the car, kinda hard at first, after that, smoke start coming out like crazy .....it makes the car smoother, and idle better
