Clean that MAF

I just checked my MAF again, i had previously cleaned it with electronics cleaner and all that but never took the 4 screws out and took it apart. Anyone wanting to clean their MAF should DEFINATLY take the thing apart and get at the other side. I used to look from behind at the maf and the sensors always looked clean from behind so ive always thought that my MAF was "clean" But today i took it apart and looked at ther other side -all black with GUNK! I windex/elctronics cleaned it with cutips and am gona have a go with it tonight. I'm determined to fix this bloody low RPM stumble!

i would not touch it with a q-tip if i were u. it could leave some of the hair on it and then ud have to touch it to get it off. just spray it with some carb/choke cleaner and let it dry. it will get all the dirt off.

i used ether spray(i let it dry thouroughly of course, lol)....I picked up 2 or 3 or maybe more mpg out of cleaning it, i had a recent thread about it and my gas mlg problems, it made it better, but its nowhere near where it should be with 2.73's and no mods which decrease mlg.

Well I've been driving the car all evening since i got that maf cleaned. It was definatly WAY to dirty to just clean with car cleaner, i had to scrub much of it off with the q-tips.. of course i was EXTREMLY careful with the 3 sensors on it, fortunatly the sensors were the easiest to clean, just a few light wipes and presto - like new!

A bit of background here - Car had been having a low RPM stumble while cruising on the highway for a LONG time now... I've done almost everything to diagnose it and replaced / cleaned a lot of different things. Its FINALLY working again! its like a new car, I can't belive how well she runs now! I didn't resent my PCM though so it took a while for the car to learn again, but by the end of the evening it was running almost perfectly, the stumble was gone!

I've cleaned the MAF before just by spraying it and it DID NOT WORK. This time i used the cutips... and its finally fixed! Anyhow, do it at your own risk, they are very sensitive.

oh ya, i replaced my Plug wires yesterday too, but it made ZERO difference on the stumble. The car felt way way stronger though, it was arcing before. Then i cleaned my MAF and ... well finally fixed
