Chrome rims and dyno?

OK I'm dyno'ing at the end of the month and I was wondering how wheel weight affects your #s? Is it worth it to change my 17" Firehawks (chrome) back to my stock 16" alloys? How much HP coul that affect me? Or should I just take off my back 2? But then, is it safe to drive 20 miles with 17s in the front, 16s in the rear?

Running with 17's front and 16s rear would not be a problem.

As for how much they will effect your #'s. Probably not that much.

Though if your that worried about 1-3 rwhp on your dyno slap them on.

For me it really wouldnt matter enough unless i was putting on a really really light wheel like some Draglites, and thats only if my daily rims were like 18's or bigger.

Just really not worth the hassle IMO

I agree, don't even bother with the swap.

From: looking for a flow bench so Brook and I can race
just a guess-
but from i heard round here, people are gaining 7rwhp it an aluminum driveshaft.

seeing how the raduis is larger, the wieght differance about the same and there are two of them, i'm willing to say 10rwhp can be saved

then again it really depends on the weight differance.

I went from 28# to 16.5# and saved 1 inch in diameter

I would say you would gain no more than 5 RWHP. Probably more around 2-3. So its most likely not worth it in most cases. But if you take me for example, I could of hit 300 RWHP if I put my stock rims on in place of my chrome Z06 rims. If I would of known I was going to be that close to 300 RWHP I probably would of gone ahead and slapped my stock ones on. You just never know I guess. If you want the highest numbers possible you might as well go for it. Its only a 10 min job

Its going to affect your acceleration more than your dyno. For example, an IMpala that dynos the same amount as an Fbody will not accelerate as fast because of its weight. Factor in that it is rotating mass, and I think it will make a bigger difference.

I gained ~2mph going back to stock wheels (from 17x9 SS aftermarket wheels). Those 275/40 tires are HEAVY.
