chrome alternator?

hey whats up everyone. does anybody know the part number and price for a chrome alternator from summit or jegs? i looked at summits site and cant seem to find it. or does anybody have another place that they know of that is cheaper? i was going to polish mine because i got MBA's billet fan for it but im being lazy and just figure i will buy one and save my time.! thanks in advance

Year One has 120 and 200 Amp versions for 440 and 420, respectively. Although I have not been impressed with their tech support so I would rather not recommend them, this is the only place that I have seen them. However, I haven't looked very extensively...

Why would you buy a new alternator for $440 when you can polish your existing piece?!

I wanted to polish a bunch of stuff when i do my cam


I guess you would use a flap wheel and a dremel tool? Then polish with some rubbing compound? ANy idea on what grit to use for the flap wheel?

Doh. The dremel tool with it's bits is just too tiny for this job. I had wasted 2 weekends polishing, and ended up with a s*** finish...

Was the finish not shiny enough for you or just uneven? What grit did you try to use?

You did it right didn't you?
You're supposed to use the dremel to sand down untill its pretty shiny, then you take regular sheet of sandpaper and sand the finish smooth and then you put a buffing wheel on the dremel to make it mirror-like...
