checking timing?

it might be a dumb question but can you check the timing with a timing light on a 93 z28 and if so whats the best way? i haven't ever used a timing light, but i just bought one and hopefully it works on this car. i think my timing chain might be off a little after cam swap. thanks in advance for your help

Re: checking timing?

All timing is done by the computer and not traditionally checked with a timing light. Give some more info about your symptoms and maybe that will lead to some suggestions.

Re: checking timing?

the headers glow after running it for a while and every so often it will pop from the intake. other than that the engine runs fine

Re: checking timing?

Glowing headers could mean a significantly lean condition (or you have super thin headers ) or a clogged cat (if you have it). I would get a scanner on it and have your tuned looked at.

Re: checking timing?

A wideband would be able to tell you.
