Cool The right spark plug 4 max. Hp

I have a '95 Camaro Z-28 with an LT-1/383 Stroker. With soooo many spark plugs that are on the market, it is quite confusing trying to decide which plug will give me the most horsepower. Right now, I have just the standard Ac Delco spark plug. I would like to know which of the latest plugs that I can upgrade to that can give me more HP than my standard AcDelco plug. Perhaps there is someone who has the same engine type as mine that has had some success with one of these plugs.

Most people are running NGK TR55's or TR6's.

Well, if you're running the stock plug you're likely in the wrong heat range for the engines' output. The rule-of-thumb would be one heat range cooler for every 100 horsepower increase.

The stock AC spark plug has a tiny platinum puck on the ground electrode. Over time, this puck has been known to fall off. Once this happens, idle quality suffers greatly and the engine responsiveness in the entire rev range is affected.

As you increase the compression in an engine or use a power adder or both, there is a tendency for the engine to 'blow out' the spark. The stock plug has a big gap... 0.050" if I remember correctly...and that makes it easier to blow out.

So, all this said, I'd recommend you go with a NGK TR6 (or equivalent) gapped at 0.035". You won't really see a horspower increase from any plug, but the right one will allow you to make all you can.....

Good Luck!

TR6 if your running nitrous/boost, or a TR55 if your N/A. That's been the standard for a few years.

I was talking to a very educated LS based motorhead today about Iridium plugs and a couple of new designs, by a couple of companies. They apparently are only good for about 15,000 miles on motors with power adders, but will add horsepower due to a much better burn. I won't recommend anything yet, because I have no experience with them, but you might want to keep your ear to the ground. I'm looking more into it.....

Ive been running NGK TR6's on my LT1 for a long time now. I think they are 2 heatranges cooler but their perfect for the 100 shot im running. Im thinking about running off bottle for awhile so im going to try the TR55's.
