Check valves-Run several in a Series?

I have replaced the smog pump check valve on the passenger side 6 times. Every time I get to an Open Track event the valve goes bad and ruins the hose. I have had the smog pump checked and was told everything was OK. I have bought them from Napa, Carquest and the Chev dealer. It doesn't seem to matter.

Should I run 2 of them in a series??? Should I plug both sides off? Then how do I disconnect the smog pump? Right now I have the check valve removed and a 1/2" pipe cap on the tube coming out of the exhaust. The burned hose is hanging there with exhaust sound coming out- I assume from the drivers side. I don't have to worry about passing smog for 1 1/2 years!

Artic White '97 SS

P.S. I found another thread about the same problem but all they did was replace the valve and hose.

I can't imagine what would repeatedly cause the valve to fail. Maybe your exhaust backpressure is high (clogged cat?). Your engine is not going to run right with that just left open. It will badly throw off your O2 readings.

Shoebox- I just passed smog 1000 miles ago. I doubt it is my cat but how would I know?

Anyone else with this experience? Can I block off both sides/valves or will that cause harm to the smog pump?

By-the-way the only time I have had this problem is after 2 or 3 sessions at an Open Track event. Any suggestions???
