Check out my airbox...

This isnt right is it? The bellow is all fubar, and smashed together. I guess I need to get a whole new box. The previous owner hacked it up, so my dad made 'franken lid' for me. Works for the time being, and definatly seals better than what was left of the stock piece.

Pardon the dust, half of my driveway is gravel and I have the joy of driving through construction every day.

I guess I might need to suck it up and buy a new air box assembly. They go for $350+ tho, dont they? If I go this route will it come with the bellow? Anyone sell an aftermarket smooth piece like they do for the LS1?

Thanks, Ron.

Get a 3" Fernco Rubber PVC cupling, it will work. You can get them at a hard where store for $5. But yes it does look all jacked up, like the box is sitting to height and to far back. You are also missing the rubber sleeve that goes on the end of the air box where it meets the MAF. Plastic air box to metal MAF won't give a very good seal. And the air box you posted is the same as a stock Pontiac air box without the words on it. It will work. There was a guy selling some in the for sale section before, don't know if he still has any.

Looks like the airbox is pushed too far back on the radiator support. Somehow, it doesn't look like mine..... :

Yes. Just like I said in my post. You should be able to find it at any hardware store.

The Fernco piece is fairly stiff, but if you heat it in a pot of near boiling water on the stove, it will soften to the point where it is very easy to fit over the TB. Once you have it on there and it cools, it will hold the oval shape and is easy to remove and install.

Bought it today. It will definatly take some convincing to get on. I took it all apart today, and I dont think I have the stock ws6 airbox, well whats left of it. I only have 2 mounting holes opposed to the 4. It isnt back to far, I think Im just gonna invest in a new set up...

yeah, the pipe connectors can be a pain to put on, just use a little soapy water(very little) and it should just slide on. if you go to pep boys and ask for the keystone catalog, there are some colored silicone hose adaptors used for turbo applications, but you can use them here too. they are like 30 bucks though. they come in all sizes in 1/4" increments up to 4".

you may want a 3 1/4" adaptor. i wish i had one for my slp intake. it was a pain. but soap helps a lot.

I followed that advise last year when I did the Fernco and worked good. Not nearly as hard to put on later down the road, first time is the worst.

I got a piece from a plumbing store, it was a little long so I had to shave it down till it fit. The angle isn't perfect, but it seals. Pics after I finish my headers. My airbox with old bellows.
