Check Gauges Light under acceleration??

Lately my check gauges light has been coming on when giving it 1/2 -3/4 throttle acceleration from a slow roll or stop. As soon as I see the light, I let off the gas and the light turns off immediatly.

I've read all the horror stories about the pickup tube falling off etc...but everyone seems to get the check gauges light under hard braking.

So, any idea what might be causing this? Car needs an oil change, but it is full of oil. Runs and drives great. Car is a 94 A4 car if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help!

Are any of the gauges dropping under WOT? Sometimes your altenator charge will drop below the threshold. It is possible that the oil pressure is dropping to 0 on full throttle.

I've really only been paying attention to the oil pressure and it never moves from it's normal 40psi area when the light comes on.

Do you think the serp could be slipping?
