check engine light came and go,,,whats the deal?

this morning when it was cold outside, i started my car and i noticed that my fan was blowing while the engine is cold. check engine light came on and i turned it off. after about five minutes i started it back up and check engine light is gone and everything is back to normal.. what is going on? also my A/C compressor is going out,, bearing problem,, just to let you guys know if it matters. I kind of hear it like run for couple of seconds when i first starts the car.

What year is your car.... all LT1's are not the same.

A light and the fans running on cold start is often related to the AIR pump. All you need to do is get the PCM scanned.... once the code is set, it stays stored in the PCM for a reasonably large number of "drive cycles".
