"Check Coolant" light, but coolant level is fine??? (3 problems inside)

Today I got this light in my 95 T/A, but the coolant level was fine.

With that said, since I have bought the car it has smelled like the heater core might be leaking, but have seen no signs of this. Is this common, and how hard is it to replace (or bypass).

Also, my T/A seems to run kinda warm, it stays at 180* on the hwy, but sitting for a extended period (at the track staging) it will go a little past 210, and it wasnt even that hot outside. I know you can wire up a switch to the fan, but should it not be running this hot?

So if you can help me with any of those 3 problems, please help!

Thanks,
James

There's a sensor right below the radiator cap that senses the coolant level. It might need to be cleaned. This has happened to other members on the board.

If the heat core were leaking bad enough the passenger side would have a good sized puddle of coolant.

This is normal for a stock LT1. It is designed to run hot. Hot as in the ranges you're noticing. A quick way to cool the engine down is by using a 160* thermo and programmed fans to start cooling much quicker.

i cant find that sensor, where exactly is it?

I pulled the cap, and there are 2 lines going to it, but neither are sensors.

How far down the radiator is the sensor?

Only a few inches down. These pics should help.

The low coolant level sensor snaps into the radiator tank on the passenger side of the vehicle, about 4 inches down from the cap, dont need to remove cap to see it, it attaches on the outside. You live in Texas ? just wondering I live in Texas.

I live near the DFW airport, used to have connections at McDavid and at Freeman, but not anymore, cheapest parts I find now are online.
