Cheaper Duals setup...?

I plan on running duals and i really want a decent setup. It needs to be mandrel bends and it needs to tuck up under the car really well. My question is: what are the cheapest pieces to puchase in order to have a nice/clean setup (if your running long tubes)? I know there are fully assembled xpipes and such but they are expensive...

I was looking through summitracing and i found these hedman header universal x-tensions, part number HED-18804. They are only $22. I was wondering if these would be a good starting point for the beginning of my duals setup? I have two proflow twister mufflers and a flowmaster 3" hpipe. I think i may have a winning combo here, but it seems like the only downside is that those extensions only come in 2.5 inch. Would there be a problem running 2.5" piping with a 3" crossover/hpipe? What do yall think?

if you want cheap and pretty simple... go from your longtubes and have an exhust shop get you some header extensions to go around your trans/under crossmembers and just have them go like right after the trans and pull them up into the driveshaft hump kinda on the side, but still where the driveshaft can go up and down and not hit. when u get the headers on they will be able to bend it relly well and it will fit perfectly, shouldnt cost much at all either since your not going over the axle, then do 3" dynomax bullets with turndowns right before the axle. i have a 3" bullet on my stock I pipe and that goes right next to the driveshaft and i have AWESOME ground clearance. i dont have headers or anything but i think if you have it mounted how i do, you wont have any problems at all, should be fairly easy, cheap and perform awesomly. o yea, it might be kinda loud.lol

If you're going the duel route, why not just go ahead and do true duels? Just buy a few chambered mufflers then turn downs. Shouldn't be expensive at all.

Re: Cheaper Duals setup...?

Right now i have long tube headers with 3x18 inch sweet thunder chambered mufflers bolted onto the headers. and thats it. Friday, im going to the exhaust shop to have a h-pipe made and have the duals ran out the back UNDER the axle. The only thing is, they dont have 3 inch pipe so hes going to run it down to 2.5. Im not to worried at all about loosing power by this, I really dont think i would hardly at all anyways.

I did exactly as you are talking about. The extensions are the same price as collectors, maybe a little more. One of them will need to be cut and lengthened though, it did on mine at least.

Check the sig for pics of my exhaust.
