Cheap Mods

Well what do you guys do for the cheap mods? I already have K&N and Flowmaster installed on car. TB bypass done, LT4 knock module on the way. I know I could get a 1le elbow. My big project next after vaction is hedders and electric water pump with Bryan Heter programming. Is there anything that I could do to better the car any before these installs? I know a little about the Lt1 since I own a hot cammed Impala SS with tons of mods.

I heard there was a mod to firm the tranny by removing the console and pressing a button but need more info before I try that. Thanks for any info Travis

I know this is a debatable ? but what is the best hedder for the Z. I wont long tubes because I love the cars power. I see Jet Hot coat is offering a GP that sound good. Just want opinions to make up my mind.

Why dont you get a FIPK instead of just an air filter? Other than that it looks like to me all the cheap mods have been done already... the 1le elbow doenst help much at all, its a waste of money. I think you are on the right track with long tubest though!

Normally I would say don't bother with the 1le elbow, but since your going to get the electric h20 pump. I would say go ahead becuase it won't fit with the donkey silencer. Then I would recommend some 1.6rr's. They really woke my car up, and you already have the lt4km

If you have a 97 Z [per your handle] you can't, that is only in 94-5 PCM's..

Try that link for more info..
It's worth doing for a 94-5 Z
Firmer shifts that 'hold' longer, and it downshifts more aggressively at part throttle, etc..

First for Newbie 97, descreen the MAF and port it(remove the metal vanes) do not touch the plastic part or the little sensor wires.
The ported MAF was worth .05 at the track,a free half tenth

Second for Redwolf: My car has the performance shift button on the console,I have tried it at the track and I have not noticed a difference one way or the other.

The extra RPM just take you past your peak power, unless your cammed.

I finally got mine done last week. It won't hurt anything. 94-95 it signals the PCM to go into "performance" mode. Your PCM already has the tables for this programmed in it. It will shift at a higher mph in relation to throttle opening and it will use a different pressure offset table (more line pressure.) Overall pressure at most throttle positions is less than what you would end up with a Hypertech (which I have tried and consider too firm.) The max line pressure that the PCM will allow is not changed in performance mode. As a bonus you can further edit these tables with LT1edit and have two radically different shift programs if you like.
