Sometimes driving with your eyes closed makes the car feel faster.

Is this something specific to 95s? I ask because I've had a 95, 96, and now a 94, and I never noticed a difference in layout. I have the bypass on my 94, but I only got it because I had a bunch of Summit Bucks that were about to expire. I didn't do the mod on my 96, and I sold the 95 before I got around to it, so I never picked up on any diffence.

Re: cheap horsepower

The hoses are routed differntly on the 93-94 and 95-97 engines. 93-94 the line from the steam pipe on the back of the head goes directly to the connection on the passenger side radiator end tank. On 95-97 cars, the line from the steam pipe goes to the passenger side of the throttle body first.

93-94 needs a 3/8" hose barb and 2 worm clamps. 95-97 you discard the elbow that connects the steam pipe line to the throttle body, and pull the line off the drivers side connection on the throttle body, and connect it to the line from the steam pipe. In effect, you are connecting the line from the steam pipe directly to the connection on the radiator.

Shoebox (as always) has the info:

Re: cheap horsepower

I haven't seen any signs of "stretch" on the LT1 throttle cables in the 17 years I've been working on LT1's. But if you feel a need to check, simply have someone hold the pedal on the floor, while you verify that the throttle blades are exactly parallel to the air flow direction. Make sure the floor mat isn't under the pedal .

Re: cheap horsepower

I had a 2001 Explorer Sport where the throttle cable had stretched a little. It does still happen.

I haven't looked into this yet or anything, but how does bypassing one small coolant path get 7WHP? It just doesn't seem to make sense to me. Someone enlighten me?

Re: cheap horsepower

haha see at least someone knows wht im talking about. ya the whole 7whp doesnt make any sense... i could imagine like .125 whp lol but not 7 the old dino graph probably had more components going on in the engine... you know like the motor stallin then the next run it doesnt stuff like that.

How does it not make sense, you are removing a source of 200+ degree water away from a direct path of airflow....pretty simple colder air is denser, denser air can take more fuel ...more fuel plus more/denser air equals more power

Re: cheap horsepower

Lol. I kinda held off with this topic cause no matter if its a ford chevy or even a nissan
This topic on tb bypass goes waaay left.

Every mustang I have owned I bypassed the same thing I never got 7hp but I always got over 10tq

try this. Get a turbo heater and an a/c unit. Sit in front of heater and breath then
Try the a/c unit and breath. I bet you will breath better on the latter lol

Dense air has the capacity to mix with more fuel vs light hot air cause when hot air goes
Through intake and reaches the runners that's all you get. But cooler denser air has the ability
To separate more and take on more fuel which tends to end up being unused raw gases with hotter air

Wow, that's out there as an explantion!

What you're trying to say is that cooler air has a higher density. Density is defined as mass divided by volume. Since every engine is an air pump, cooler, therfore denser air makes the pump more efficient.....

Ah I get it now, I didn't think about the air being cooler.

Re: cheap horsepower

Since we're on the topic of intake temp and air density, anyone use a bag of ice on the intake manifold between passes at the strip? At Norwalk Raceway, test and tune sessions are usually crowded, so there's alot of down time between runs. It's something I used to see people out there do often. It seemed to help on my old 96 Z.

Re: cheap horsepower

I have heard of turbo guys using it due to EGT's, but I was always afraid of cracking the intake manifold... hot cast iron + ice = crack? Maybe I'm crazy. I am just starting to get into nitrous so if this is safe let me know; but I am just keeping the elec wp. running a little longer with hood open after runs now.
