Changing radiator...change heater core too?
Changing radiator...change heater core too?
After my recent waterpump change I was flushing all the Dexcool mud out of my cooling system yesterday and it is ridiculous how bad it is....even after flushing it last week. I'm using a heavy dut rad. flush (drove for 5 days with it in there) and I flushed it by filling, running enging til hot, dumping 5-10 times. Then my radiator sprung a leak...likely that the garbage was clogging the leak all this time.
I'm putting in a new radiator today...do you guys think I should change the heater core too? Can I assume that the garbage in the heater core is as bad as the crap in the radiator? Water is coming out more clear but there is still mud in there and I'm afraid it is all lodged in my heater core too...I don't want it to get into my new radiator....

Re: Changing radiator...change heater core too?
Anybody have problems with getting the correct heater core from Autozone? I got one and the pipes are criss-crossed like an X...looks like my pipes come straight out...
The guy at AZ couldn't find another part number for it...anybody have this problem? If so what part number did you end up going with?

Re: Changing radiator...change heater core too?
Well, I just went ahead and changed it...now I shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time. By the way the part was correct...the pipes actually swivel so it worked fine.
