Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
Any advice on how to do this? I have jethot longtubes so I'm sure its gonna be fun to get at the motor mounts.
I really have no idea how I should do this though, how hard is it to change the motor mounts and pan gasket with the motor in the car?

Re: Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
hold the engine up from the top with a 4x4 across the strut/innerfender wells, then drop the k-member out, very easy then all the room you would ever need
Re: Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
you could also use a strut tower brace to hold up the engine while droping out the kmember. just remove the 6 18mm bolts holding it in place, you can prolly leave everything else in place and have enough room to do the work. I would power spray of the undercarriage real good though before starting cause Im sure your gonna want to remove the oil pan first, then replace the mounts, then reinstall the pan. be careful not to get dirt/debris in the eng..

Re: Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
you dont have to but it will make the job a lot easier, with the k member out the pan and mounts come right down,
removing the k member is really not that bad at all

Re: Changing motor mounts and oil pan gasket
I did both without dropping the k-member.
For the motor mounts, just do one at a time and you will be fine.
As for the oil pan gasket, when you take out the driver side motor mount, just jack the engine up as high as it goes and then unbolt the oil pan. What I did is made sure the surroundings were clean, then I just slided the new oil pan gasket OVER the pan. (from the outside)
Worked great and it wasn't bad at all. No leaks to this moment.
