Change Cam with heads still on?
Change Cam with heads still on?
Can I change the cam with the heads on the car still?
my heads will be in befor my cam, and I already hav a pile of parts waiting, and I cant waint any more.
My cam will be a couple month away. and head gaskets are expensive.
Also, what bolts should I use for hte heads?

ARP head bolts should work fine for you application. I wouldn't bother with studs for now.

are the ARP bolts better tehn the GM bolts?
I would do studs, but I cant get the heads on with the the studs on the engine in the car I thought.
and I dont think I'll ever see more hen 400 or so HP, so do I really need studs?
studs are not needed and you are right, you will have one hell of a time getting the heads back on with studs while the motor is still in the car
ARP head bolts are the best, better then any of the GM head bolts
check the vendors section for ordering

Well, the trick there is to buy the studs with the allen key in the top. Then you simply put the heads on, screw down the studs, and install the nuts.
Yeah, ARP bolts are much better than the stockers. Much higher quality. FWIW, I've seen guys run 20 PSI from a turbo on those bolts and not have a problem. I believe Brady saw 23 PSI before his heads started to lift.
