the chance to do it over

they say hindsight is always 20/20.

if you were to start over with your LT1, what would you do differently as far as mods go?

would you have never got a cat-back, and went with true duels?
or just maybe went with a different brand cat-back?
never bought a CAI, just made one?
would have got a bigger cam, if so which would did you get, and which would you get?
would you of got steeper gears?

basicly, looking back, if you had all the money you spent on your car.....400 for a cat-back, 500 for headers, 200 for a CAI....all at once, what would you spend it on now?

you'd still have to spend it on the car tho....

kinda like a best-of-the-best...

Oh man... lol. I've thought about this question many times.

I would have built an n/a 383 or 396 stroker on gas (to be as general as possible) instead of the forced induction setup the car has now.

If I decided to stay F/I, I'd probably have a much different cam than the crane i have now (probably a comp xe 224/236 114lsa w/ 1.6 rockers), a 3200-3400 stall, and jet hot longtubes with either a fabricated x-pipe, bullets, and dumps, or a mufflex ORY and GMMG catback...

Awesome thread idea btw... I always think about **** like that but never thought of posting a thread about it.

Personally, I would have went w/the Hooker cat back or true duals over my Flowmaster cat back (although I did like it). Another thing is I would have gutted my cat alot sooner than I did, I had my first F-body for like a year before I learned I could do that LOL.

I would have did the same exhaust...true dual Bullets.
Would have gotten a SLP CAI and got it ceramic coated.
Would have never bought a BBK 52mm TB.
Would have gotten Jet-Hot LT's instead of SLP shorties.
Would have started saving when I first got the car for a 355 rebuild, heads, cam, etc.

I would not have gone with an aluminized cat back. Wound up having to replace it with a stainless one 3 years later.. Otherwise the car is blast, I'm having fun with it, no regrets

Just a few....
I would have gotten the Borla to start with,
I would have never bought a BBK TB,
I would have never had a local guy port my heads,
I would have done a 383 stroker with a reputable head shop doing the head work a long time ago.

I agree, i think the best thing is to live and learn because thats the only way to do it.

Ya you could say "what if" i did it this way or bought this instead.

But thats the whole process of modding and seeing what works and what you do or dont like. Not everyone does the same things and buys the same parts. Everyones set-up is pretty much different.

But yea, i might have started with a 383 or something, but then again in the beginning i didnt know anything about that...

Honestly if I could have done everything over from the begining...I would have thrown the LT1 in the truck and put my 468 in there!!

But nooooooo, I had to be cool and have "fuel injection". Why God? Oh why.........

On my 94Z, I probably would have skipped the MAC 1 5/8" headers and just went right with the Long Tubes.

Good thread idea too!
