centerforce df clutch, opinions please
I have been looking into high performance clutch replacements for my 97 f-body. what is the opinion of centerforce df clutch for a high horse power lt4 stroker engine. thanks for any input.

My friend had his, he likes it, but he's going Spec on his next clutch...he likes my Spec MUCH better.
His gave out on him at the track as well. The clutch feels good, but it seems they have a short life span...at least in the F body.

Seven clutch installs in a year and a half. Poor customer service. Centerforce ALWAYS blamed something else like the hydraulics, the clutch installer, my driving, the flywheel, or whatever...
I went to an automatic. Cost me a small fortune. I will not do business with them again. At one point I had a GM clutch installed and all the problems went away completely (except it wouldn't hold the power) and then put the Centerforce back into the car and the problem started again. Basically, the clutch would not go into reverse when the car was running. If I shut the car off it would go into reverse, but not when it was on. I had two different shops do the installation, change throwout bearings, changed flywheels, changed the hydraulics (twice), and went through a pile of Centerforce products. It never worked and Midway Industries refused to accept ANY responsibility.
Maybe something has changed sicne then (two years ago), and maybe their products have omproved, but I will not recommend them based on my experience.

tnthub,
did you ever find out why the transmission would not engage reverse while running. i have a friend in miami that has a similar problem with reverse issues with his df aswell but swears that the clutch is great at the track.

That's strange, considering that Centerforce sends a factory replacement TO bearing with their assemblys...
Anyways, I took my centerforce clutch assembly into my local clutch shop, and they told me all they do to the discs is remove the factory material from on side, cut up some pieces of the same material and put it back on.

One other thing they mentioned is that if you have a patent on something it dosen't have to actually work.
