Re: CC503?'s inside!!

Since it is arguably the most widely used LT1 cam (aside from perhaps the hotcam) there are probably several hundred different combinations running anywhere from mid 11s to high 13s with that cam with the norm being mid 12s. Weather, DA, driver, suspension, overall modifications, etc., all play a part.

But if I had to guess on an ET for your setup in good air and assuming you have good traction and all other conditions ideal probably 12.3-12.5.

Re: CC503?'s inside!!

Your car should have high-11's in it if you get a good launch. Who did the heads? I'm assuming you are a t56 guy since you didn't post a converter in your mods and are running 4.11's. Where in NY are you from? Bring it down to Cecil on the 17th:

Re: CC503?'s inside!!

I can't get the car to hook off the line(bog or blow the tires off...best is 2.0 60' so far....), but I do have a new best set at Piedmont a week or so ago(1/8 mile). In signature.

I plan on getting some ET streets or Nitto street slicks to get the car to hook better. LoL, when I do, I'll put the tow truck on standby.

I look forward to seeing your numbers.

what size tire you have on the the rear ace? I believe my best 60 foot was a very high 1.8(when car was mostly stock) with most runs low 1.9. I couldn't really get any time with a bfg drag radial on a stock ws6 rim(over my street tires).

Re: CC503?'s inside!!

275/40R17 on SLP SS 17x9 wheels. I have Kuhmo tires on it. I would certainly hope that MT ET streets would have much more grip. Most of my research suggests M/T are best at the track. I would not be daily driving them(going to get two spare SS wheels and change them for track duty). I suppose I could go full slick, but I don't want to tear the rear end out of it.

I wonder if a person is going to use a dot tire if the 16 or even 15 rim would help. I was seriously dissapointed with my bfg drag radial in 275/40/17. Had a buddy who ran the et streets but soon went slicks(supercharged mustang) I think he put down a 1.7 with them. Not sure what aspect ratio he had but still had quite a bit of wheel spin(but good forward momentum) but he could launch with higher rpm.

Yes.....but it depends on the DOT tire.

When pushing close to 350 HP at the wheels (like a lot of Heads/503cam set-ups), the tire sizes mentioned (275/40-17 to 315/35-17) are generally 'ineffective' for drag racing (launching). Those low profile tires have no 'give' in the sidewall.....and you're gonna spin 'em. It just can't be helped.

Not only would you want to ditch regular street tires for drag tires (DOT drag radials or slicks) but you also want to strongly consider a 15" rim so that you have more sidewall on the tire. Even a low profile drag radial can be a poor choice if you have too much power......just due to not having enough sidewall.

A 275/50-15 or 255/60-15 drag radial.....or a 26x11x15 slick would a good start.

You can go that route......or you can expect to continue to slip on your launch. Remember, it's all about using the 'right tool for the job' .

Just my $.02.

Re: CC503?'s inside!!

I don't know jack about choosing the correct tire for drag racing, so any advice is welcome. Sounds like my old salad shooters(16's) would be better than my 17's. I just hate riding to the track with different sets of wheels. My biggest problem is the 10 bolt. I want more traction, but do need some give to keep it together.

Lt1Son, did you get your numbers?
