CC503 or CC306?
CC503 or CC306?
Need a new cam for when i do my rebuild and love the sound of the CC503 but it sounds like a little too much of an almost daily driver. I have an 2000 impala I drive almost as often as my Z but would i be better off with a CC306?
Well I drive my Z more than my impala so it would probably be considered my daily. I love the sound of the 503 and the 306 sounds nice but just dont want buy it for sound and run into trouble later down the road
I'm still going to say you need to have a goal to reach and then go from there. You want to rev it higher? You want a cam you can keep and reuse in your 383 project? Just think about long term and what you'd prefer.

Comp cams makes both the 503 and 306. For daily driver i would go with the 503 as for the 306 i would use it if i wasnt to much concern with gas mileageand wanted to rev to about 6500 to get full potential with stock heads.
I would also stick with a small cam like the Crane 227, Hotcam, CC305 etc.. for a daily driver. Back when my car was my only transportation it had a Hotcam kit, Midlength headers, 2800 Vigilante, 3.42's out of an M6 in the 10 bolt, tuned by me it ran 12.30's@110mph N/A and NX125 shot 11.30's@121mph. The combo was very streetable and always made it to work, track and home with no major problems. I also got the car to run 11's on motor and 10's on n2o but it wasn't as much of a driver after I changed it up. I still drive the car on the street but it's definately not a DD. Goodluck Clint
Had a 503 in my thirdgen swap and we put one in my friends rx7 swap and they ran great. Sound was good and it still passed emissions here in TN. Last car had a custom grind and I will probably do that from now on. Just a little more and you can get exactly what you want to fit your needs and setup.
I had a 503 in my daily driver and would recommend it over the 306. It had great driveability, albeit 385 cubic inches, and made 370 horse and torque to the wheel.
