Cool CC503 1/8 times with mod list....

Guys,

Since solving my oil pressure problems with the Moroso pan and Canton pickup, I'm finally done with this phase of my Z28 build up. I just wanted to post up the mods and track times.

Mods:
  • CC503 Cam
  • Stock heads(though, milled due to overheating years ago, no port or valve work at all)
  • 1.6 Pro Mags NSA(7/16")
  • PAC 1518 springs w/comp cams 918 retainer hardware(10* +0.050 locks + retainers)
  • Trickflow Guideplates
  • New stock lifters and timing set
  • Comp Cams Magnum Pushrods(7.2")
  • Ford SVO 30# Injectors
  • Fel-Pro 1074 Head gasket
  • Moroso 20185 pan, with Canton pickup 20-013
  • PCMforless tune
  • Stock 350 block w/stock rotating assembly & all new bearings
  • Melling M-155 w/Melling IS-55E pump drive shaft
  • Kooks 1 3/4" long tubes with EGR and cat'd y-pipe
  • Flowmaster 17133 catback(80 series muffler)
  • K&N cold air intake
  • Stock suspension
  • 17x9 GM SS wheels with 275/40R17 Kuhmo tires

1/8 mile times:
  • 2-13-11..Piedmont Dragway..8.412@88.57
  • 2-19-11..Farmington Dragway..8.389@88.35

The car is running strong all the way to 6300-6400rpms. With some mild slicks and suspension work on this thing, I think it will go into the high 7's(I'm cutting some 2.1 60' times). I'm really having trouble getting off the starting line. I have to get into it easy or it will blow the tires right off it. Of course, I do want to keep the 10 bolt under it for now, so no slicks until I can get a better rear axle.

It will take some time, but next on the list is a good set of heads from AFR. I'm on the fence about the bottom end. I'm not sure if I'm going to do a 355 or 383. Javier's 355 ran very well, so I may just do a 4 bolt 355 when I do the heads.....but I'll need to think more on it.

Just for reference, I did get to run a 5th gen LS3 Camaro SS. It was a white automatic coupe with orange stripes. It ran an 8.7@81.796 to my 8.437@87.880. Not bad for 4000lbs. She....yes she, beat me to the line by 0.019, because I cut a terrible 0.352 light to her 0.034 light. I was running it down hard though. Just ran out of track. Exciting race when you cross the line neck and neck.

All in all, I'm very pleased with the way my LT1 is running at the track given the mods. Just thought I would share the results of my fun day today.

Must be nice to get to go to the track this time of the year! Were getting ten inches if snow tomorrow up here and I just got my brand new SS4000 waiting to go in. I can't wait for spring.
