CC306 vs. XE 230/236??

Hi,

Im at a stailmate here. I am gearing up for a cam install and Im stuck on what cam I should use. I have friends running the CC306 with awsome results but the 306 is a little rough for a daily driven car like mine is. I was looking for something with similar performance, but a little more street manners. Thats when I started looking into an XE230/236. The seemed to be performing very well as is the CC306 but I havnt seen tomany ETs with the XE230/236. If anyone is running the XE230/236 please let me know how your car runs and what kind of ETs you are putting down. My mod list below lists what i have done and what i will be doing this summer. Thanks alot for you help.

I have the xe230/236 sitting next to me waiting on install. One thing I would definitly suggest is to not ask for the ET, but the MPH since that is more of a function of HP and not traction. Just my thoughts, but w/ stock heads I have seen people running 107-109 trap speeds; w/ other mods of course like headers, exhaust.

I'm sure someone will chime in w/ some real world experience.

I have a 306, heads, and LT's and use it as a daily driver. I don't think it's too bad at all. It might seem a little rough, especially with an A4, but I just put it in neutral at a light and it idles almost like stock.

I've had both - and they're very similar as far as trap speeds are concerned... In the same conditions ~ CC306 - 12.02@115 ... 230/236 - 12.10@114.5 <- but this was w/ a rollbar, so the car was about 60 lbs heavier?

As far as daily driving manners, the 230/236 wins hands down.. It feels more eager to pull down low, even w/ a 110lsa. The 306 did feel like it had a harder pull on the top end of the powerband though... <- Perhaps this was due to it's lack of low end in comparison?

Do you see a 3200 stall as being enough to support your curve with the XE 230/236? What is the ideal stall for an XE 230/236?

Awsome times with both cams guys. Thanks amillion for the info. Im still debating on which one i want. I have a loaded car and I weight in at 225 so my car isnt light be no means, so the 230/236 is sounding better if it has more low end. On the other hand Im getting 4.10s for the rear so a cam with a harder top end would be a plus in that respect. A friend of mine is porting up a really nice set of stock LT1 heads for me so I will just have to see what happens. Thanks again guys.

I'm going with the 230/236 in the future. I want something a little more rough than the CC305 but not as wild as the CC306. I'm rebuilding next summer, and that is when it will go in. I'm gonna just get head work on my stock heads.

well, i think the powerband is 2500-6000 depending on your lsa
i think he said he's runnin a 110 so naturally he wants to be in the high rpms so 3200 seems appropiate
i would think a 2600-3000 for the 112 lsa and not sure with the 114
but you would have no reason for a 114 unless you're doing a f/i or nitrous setup

2600-2800 wouldn't really be enough...I was just told that a minimum of a 3000 stall with the XE 230/236 .112 LSA...I'm thinking more along the lines of sending my 2800 in for a free re-stall to 3400...

going off my dyno, a 3200 is great for this cam. put 4.10's in too and it will be PERFECT.

u are definately going to need a 3000 stall at least.

GMRULZ ran an 11.77 @ 115 and multiple 11.8's with the XE230/236 on a 112. He does have TEA LT1 ported heads and I think a 3500 stall. Do a search on his name for more info. Car put down 403 RWHP too.

96LT14u2Nv let me know how your dyno run turns out. Im really leaning towards the XE230/236 now. I'd like to hear how your car performs.
