CC306 suitable for a 396 stroker?
CC306 suitable for a 396 stroker?
Hi,
I am starting to compile parts for my stroker motor build and I was wandering if my CC306 cam will be a suitable cam for a big inch stroker motor, or would I be better off running something more aggressive, with more lift and maybe more duration? I am planning on this car still seening alot of street time but Im not overly worried about street manners. As long as it will idel at a reasonable RPM and still run on pump gas Im planning on going as wild as I can. Tuning is not a problem and neither is smog. I have a set of home ported intake and heads with 2.00/1.56 valves, Hooker LTs, Mufflex Y-pipe, Hooker cat-back, I will have a 9-inch with 4.10s, Full suspention, 58mm t-body, LTCC conversion, CSI water pump, a big Wabro F/P, some #30s, and anything esle I will need to make this work to its maximum potential. If you have any suggestions for me on a cam let me know what you think. Im open to any ideas. Thanks for your all help.

i just built a 396. good luck getting the compression down so you can run pump gas i am sitting at 13:1 but i like it. i dont need pump gas. but anyway i am running the cc306 it is good for street drivabilty but when i decide to go faster i will most likely choose a cam with a 640 lift ex/ 660 int ( good for the n20) btw i am running 10.50's with cc306 so thats good for most daily drivers like mine
WOW! 10.5 would be amazing, but 13 to 1 is alittle out of my range right now. I was thinking maybe 11.5 to 1 maybe 12 to 1 with some race gas at the track. Its nice to see some numbers out of a 396. Who did you get your crank from? Callies? Thanks for the info.
