CC306, stock heads.... How to tune??

I'm going to put a CC306 in with my stock heads (only stock for another year), other mods will be hooker LTs, 1.6 RR.

I think I need new springs too??
What else will I need?

Also, from my searches I know that tuning, and playing with the tuning will be needed to make it streaetable, but what tunner do I need to do this? and when tunning is said, what variables are changed?

Thanks.

It would be smart to step up your springs...the 612's are a great single spring...

you pretty much tune the same as for heads/cam car unless you go nuts on compression when you port them like 12:1, your MAF should pick up the extra flow the heads will have, but for the most part there is very little difference unless you have a speed density car.

The 612s work well for me. you definitely need bigger springs.

I am also running pcm4less programming too. Just waiting to get some results with a nonslipping tranny. It idles nicely though. A little lope and shaking but nothing much. ver ystreetable for having astock stall and gearing.

I'd say one of the biggest needs of tuning when doing a cam is timing changes.

For optimal idling, part-throttle and even WOT performance, you'll need to raise and lower the advance in several areas. It's best to do this in person so you can see the effects right away.

It's done with a PCM tuner, like TunerCat or LT1_Edit. I recommend TunerCat.

I did a search on TunerCat.... All I can find is onfo on ODBI,

and LT1 Edit... thats where you send your PCM away isnt it?
I'd like my car to only be down for as long as the cam, headers.. etc take.

Xride,
I do tuning on 96+ cars and I've tuned several 306s with stock heads.

Check out my site if you're interested...

Nice site, looks good.

Seems to make sence to me, but jsut want to make sure.

I send you my PCM, you do something to it...??? I get it back and it then has a different program on it for whatever set up I have....But how do I tune from there? or is it the same for cars with the same mods???

PS (this probably should be an email or pm, but I'm lazy i guess)
IF I send priority overnight or soemthing, how long does it take you?... and what method do you ship back?
