Cool cc306?? or le2 cam

Well I've decided I dont have the money for a head and cam package since I cant sell my yamaha raptor and I also need to get a roll cage put in my convertible z. So I've been reading good results like 340-360 rwhp with just putting in a comp 306. I would really just like to buy the le2 cam from lloyd if he would sell the cam only but I haven't asked anyone if he would do that. With either cam and stock bottom end and heads should I stick with my 1.5 roller rockers or should I upgrade to 1.6's would 1.6 be too much for a stock motor? Also would a mail order tune be good enough or would I have to get a dyno tune to see those hp numbers? As of the install I will have long tubes with x pipe and true duals, 3400 stall converter, shift kit, 3:73, cai, possibly a bigger throttle body if needed, and will buy new lifters, and pushrods if I dont have the hardened ones. I hope to put this in the low to mid 12's I have some suspension stuff and should be close to 13.00 with my stock cam and current mods, before the stall, and exhaust I ran 13.5 with drag radials. If I can get the le2 cam than I'll just get the heads to match later on and that would be the ideal thing to do. Are most people running 1.6's with this cam?? sorry for the long post thanks ahead of time.

I LOVE my cc306 (1.5 rockers for lower rpm torque). But, I have NEVER heard of anyone being unhappy with a LE product.

Re: cc306?? or le2 cam

thats awesome, I wasn't sure if it would run with out having the computer tuned. I'm wondering still about this le2 cam with stock componets, lloyd claims it has more low end power and 10 more peak hp than cc 306 Does anyone run it, and run it with 1.6 or 1.5 rockers? Does anyone know if lloyd will sell it by itself?

Man that sucks, I hope he can try to make some exceptions. I think it would be great to have that cam then just throw the heads on later when I get the cash. I would like to see some 1/4 mile times from u guys that have the 306 with the stock heads and bottom end, lets hear them.

I had my heads ported when I put the cc306 in. Madwolf tuning..........and I don't have any problems with streetablity. I have not been to the dyno yet but I'm sure the tune is pretty close. Ion was VERY, VERY, VERY good to deal with also (I made a mistake and he fixed the mistake without making a big deal out of it like most would).

Re: cc306?? or le2 cam

Forgot to ask what size injectors should I run with this setup, I want to go as big a s I can without going to big so the injectors will be good enough for when I get the heads? Also I anyone has any opinions on the rocker ratio let me know/

Re: cc306?? or le2 cam

hey, found a custom cam on at .050 242/248 lift .565/.585 on a 114 lobe separation. What do you guys think it would do with the stock heads? It has more lift than the cc306 so I guess I could be ok with my 1.5 rockers.

Repeat after me: "Better to under-cam than over-cam."

With all that duration, its pushing your powerband higher. If you're still on the stock bottom end, you'd have to rev way past where it's safe to. I've got usable power clear to 7000 rpm (maybe higher), but I've got my shift points set at 6500, and I wouldn't push it past it to ensure the longevity of my engine.\

Before the 306, I had an XE230/236 on order with a 111 lobe, but Comp Cam's screwed up the order and I had to rush to order the 306 to get it in by when I wanted.

Right now I'm swapping over all my stuff to road race and auto-cross, so I'm going to be ditching the 306. Maybe for a hotcam (depending how much vacuum it pulls), or a smaller custom grind.

Re: cc306?? or le2 cam

I wasn't sure about it just thought I'd ask. I wont take the engine over 6500 I have my rev limiter set there now. The only problem is it still shifts at 5700 I just have a hypertech and cant get it to shift at 6500 but I'll be junking the hypertech after the cam install. Do you think the 230/236 is better than the 306? I have a guy that said he'd sell me one on f body.com. I'm not sure if it is a 111 lobe separation or not though I asked him for the full specs. thanks for the info.

Re: cc306?? or le2 cam

yea I noticed that as soon as I posted the reply. Hopefully I can get some more ideas and get a cam I really like instead of going through the whole swap and hating it. I wish I had the money to get the heads done but I dont. I think and I'm going to find out in a couple weeks that I run very high 12's right now and thats great But I would like to say I know I run a solid 12 or closer to 12.00 through the 1/4.
