CC306 and which heads?
CC306 and which heads?
I am planning on getting the CC306 cam sometime in the future and was wondering how much benifit there would be between ported stock castings and some other aftermarket head like AFR's.
IMO, you should change the question............"after i get my heads worked which cam should i go with?"
cam should almost be the last engine mod you buy....pushrods being the very last IMO
Steve
also i think for most applications, worked over stock heads will be more then enuf for most! they can be made to produce very good numbers (flow, HP, ET)

Thanks, I am aware that the heads and cam need to compliment eachother, I was just wondering the difference that I would see between the two head designs. Or do you recommend a different design?
goals?
fuel for thought www.norushracing.com note the head casting he uses! i'm just using that as a reference that a well ported stock casting head can do alot for a little
IMO if i were you i would drop coin on the stockers

If you get your stock castings worked with the stock valves you can probably get em to flow to 250/190 ish. Hopefully you could get them done for 800-1000. Maybe add some bigger vavles and a 3 angle job too.
The afr's are going to cost you some money, but you usually get what you pay for. Where you will really see the power is going to be in the upper rpm's where your stock castings aren't going to be moving nearly as much air as the 195's. There will be a difference in the two. A happy medium may be some advanced induction or L.E heads. AI's ported lt1 casting are 1700 and with one of their custom matched cams a few of their cars are over 400rwhp. If you went with either of them I would buy the matching cam to their heads. It will make more power than the 306 and day. Everybody has been jumping on you because the better way to go about things is to get your heads first and then pick a cam. good luck

FWIW, I'm doing a 383 stroker rebuild on a 4-bolt main LT4 block, w/ a set of Lloyd Elliot LT1 heads and a CC306 cam (LSA=112). Based on my research, this is a streetable set-up that will give me the desired rwhp goal (~400, n/a). There are other cams I could have selected but I this heads/cam combination appeared to be the best based on my budget and power goals.
Thanks!
Thanks!
