You'll probably pick up a few 10ths in the 1/4 mile with it. You will gain roughly 20 horsepower up top, at the added cost of a cam that WILL surge on a 6 Speed car. Auto, you might be able to avoid it with a stall. It will suck in traffic. You will lose low end power. But from 4000-6500 you will pull a good bit stronger.

I personally am more of a fan of custom grinds cause there never seems to be a cam that fits exactly what I want. Talk to Bret or LE and see whats right for you. And if your on a budget, N20 is going to get you there, way sooner, cheaper, and faster than a cam only car.

Yeah, but I wouldn't even dare use a nos system if you're on a tight budget, only 18, and on a DD vehicle. Not a very good recommendation

use a hot cam or cc503, or go all out. unfortunately you will at some point discover there is no in between. Take it from someone that has been there and done that, many times

Just get the 306, you will like it despite the drivability problems, especially if your 18. Pros: it will sound badass, give you some power, and any mods you do down the road will be much more rewarding. Cons: tuning, running rich, surge at low rpms, MPGs.

And its not really reliable to have your daily driver consistantly revving 1000 RPM's PAST the stock redline ... Thats not even smart/reliable for a weekend car. Dont push the stock shortblock more than 6200-6300ish. Seems like the failure rate goes through the roof beyond that point on stock bottom end LT1 cars.

go with the cc503... it will do what you want... you will end up spinning rod bearings if u go with the cc306 and shift it a bunch at its good rpm...

Have fun with split blms. Fouling out plugs. But on the bright side. Does sound great. Makes great power. And even as rich as I am running (need tune) it doesnt get all that bad of gas mileage.

I personally would go for a slightly tamer cam, especially on stock heads. Not saying that there aren't people doing it, a good tune would be essential though.

I made 335rwhp and something like 350 tq with a 306 - 1.6 rockers - long tubes - 40s dumped

Whine for the cheese? Seriously if you can't tune your car or find someone who can then stop giving advice.

The cc306 is not that bad to tune. Its a smallish cam in the grand scheme of tings. It makes good power under the curve.

If you are worried about bearings then keep the stock cam and spray it.

It doesn't suck in traffic - again tune it right and match your gears with your combo.

Last rant on tuning - learn to tune before doing big mods. Its such an easy thing to do and yet most people are more than happy to pay someone else to do it. Be intimate with your car and know everything you can about it.

Oh and as a DD, 18, blah blah - Don't do anything to the car.

Yea it might not suck in traffic if you have a high stall/awesome tune. Or an M6 with at least 4.10's. But if your not running a gear too, its going to want to surge coming through parking lots/traffic/near idle throttle positions.

I have a 22X/23X at .60X lift with a PCMforless tune and 3.42's. Granted its on a tighter LSA than all the off the shelfers for an LT1, but it DOES have some surge at <5% throttle and is most noticable in first gear chugging through a parking lot or in traffic. Im not saying its not managable as a DD. I would DD mine if I didnt have a truck too. Just that the CC306 is notoriously too big for most peoples likings in a DD 350. Especially one without gears. And no one knows yet if BigRick has a A4 or M6???

Wow, the CC306 really scares some people. Guy's he's already had the Hotcam and wants something bigger, something bigger off the shelf is CC306/GM847 size.

Running a CC306 in a stock bottom end with bolt on's. Hmm, lets see...I had no problems with fouling plus or surging. If you think your getting away with running a big cam without at least a Madwolf or PCM4LESS tune you dont need to be modding cars. There is no promise youll spin bearings or not spin bearings. This is the chance you take, but make sure your oil pressure is good and you change it, and your chances stay good. You dont need to rev to 7k to make power although I have and it never hurt anything. The CC306 doesnt top out at 6800 like people claim. You can rev it to the same 6200-6400 RPM range you would with a XE503. You will NOT lose low end power, you WILL make more TQ. If you want a RV Camper cam get something else or stick with the stock one.

I'm disassembling my motor and if you want a CC306 with the valvetrain I'll have it available soon.
