Local shop said that would be a good custom grind for trying to work around emissions. Would this have any effect on power?

 

It would have some effect but I personally think it would still be hard to pass. Have you looked into the 230/236 114lsa cams? A friend of mine made 389 rwhp with one and lloyd heads

 

BTW that came will deff pass the sniffer too

 

I have a 306 cam on a 114lsa and it does put down a little bit less than the 112lsa version but it's still an awesome cam. I passed emissions with it and ported heads. But just barely and I have a new engine too.
