cc304 track times and ?s

Ok I went to gateway on 5/31/05. Since my last outing I added a madz28 tune and new headers that have a far better y-pipe than the previous fabricated y. For the first run I drove straight to tech in, after sitting in traffic for ~1hr., and then made my first pass. My seconded pass was a hot lap directly after my first pass. I then let it cool for ~2hr. and made my third. I then let it sit again and made my last pass. For the first three runs I had a 150lbs. passenger and ~50lbs. of stereo equipment ( the track was a spur of the moment idea). I feel that I am leaving some MPH on the table some where because last outing I was averaging 13.2-13.5 @ 103-105, keep in mind that was w/o tuning and w/o my MUCH improved shorty/y-pipe combo. On the last run I was by myself, had the best DA of the night, but I only went 13.6 @ 102, , and on top of it I lost to a 99+ GT that ran a 13.4 @ 104. I am frustrated because I was going for 12's. I think I should have more MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4, it was right at 20mph or so. All runs were done on 245/45/16 street tires with ~32psi and through a cat and tailpipes. So how do my times look all things considered (passenger, DA, etc)? I just don't think it is heathly, something is up

Get your self some sticky tires, and a 2400-2800 converter and you will definetly see the 12's

You just need to get that 60ft down

Some MT ET drag radials are in the near future, as well as a vig2800 or vig3200. I know the 60s weren't the best but keep in mind that I was on street tires, so 2.0-2.1 are OK. But I think it is trapping LOW(I know the cam is "baby") , given the weather, tune, and new header/y. Anyone care to analyze my times, or give their thoughts/impressions. It is just dissapointing times given my mods, it seems to be about like a full bolt-on car can do.

well the DA might have been better but hte humidity was through the roof on the last two. Also you're 60fts were way off like faded93 said. However you're 1/8 mile trap is pretty consistent and actually faster by 1 mph on the 3rd run. Have you checked for knock since you did get a tune and headers. Depending on how much knock desensitization Ion put it you may be seeing a bit of knock false or otherwise. I would also change the fuel filter if you havent in a while and put a fuel guage on it and have a friend watch the gauge as you make a test pass somewhere.

I have not checked for knock because I have not wired in my ALDL, so I can not scan. I do have the LT4 km in the computer. The fuel filter is a good idea, it is fairly new, but that doesn't mean anything. I think Ion did a great job on the tune, it drives so much smoother and is very responsive. Isn't 20mph gained from the 1/8 to the 1/4 pretty weak considering my mods and my gears (3.45). My 96z gains right at 20mph also and it is a light bolt on car with a Madz tune.

With the way your 1/4 MPH is varying it looks like you a picking up some knock which could be just too lean. Alot of times lean cars will be picky like that. You might want to scan it or get it on the dyno to verify things.

Seeing as this is a swap have you checked the TPS reading makeing sure it is a 100%. Rember your car is not as slippery as a 4h gen and has a higher drag, so your traps might not be as high.

If I remember right, I have seen that cam trap 106-108 or so in an auto 4th gen. With high 12's. So your very close.

I am going to get it dynoed once I get the ALDL wired up and the NX installed. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone.
Edit:The knock most likely is due to the fact that the y-pipe is touching my SFC. It does not rattle against it, it is pretty snug. There is really nothing I can do, except get new SFC or dent in part of the y-pipe, neither of which am I so keen on, but.......

faded93bird:
The tps voltage is within spec(checked when I put on the TB) , but that is one more that is quick and easy to verify, thanks.

Edit:All in all the car is running OK. I just thought people might be able to offer suggestions b/c the weather was pretty good. I also thought people might want to know how the cc304 performs. It is not seen very offten as no one goes through the headache of a cam swap for a "baby cam".

I don't think i would chalk it up to drag. Both cars 3rd and 4th gen are very dirty. Its probally a bit lighter too depending on how the car was equipped.

Even a o2 mv reading at wide open would be helpful at this point.

My car is fairly light as it has power nothing. What is the best method to read the o2 mv readings?
