How well would this cam perform on a stock bottom end? I am freshening up a spare motor I have, and wanna throw a cam in it. What do you think about this cam on stock heads, or maybe some LE1's? Hopin for 350 with stock heads, or about 390 to 400 with the LE1's. How high do you have to rev this thing? I dont wanna rev past 6400. Any thoughts are appreciated.

id say that cam would be happy around 7k. wont get great number or times out of it running it to 6400. i had a 233/236 cam that i just sold because i didnt wanna rev the stock motor much past 6,300. the new cam i got is a 224/224 and will prolly be happy up to about 6,200. better to have smaller well matched parts than big stuff that doesnt work well with other components. that cam would sound mean and work well with a high revving stroker and some headwork but on a stock motor, its gonna be a dog if you keep it restrained to 6400.

Yeah, I was looking at the 503, but I want more lope than what it has. I am looking for about the sound of a CC306 or something similar to that. I thought about going custom, but then a dynotune will pretty much be mandatory.

i would look into the lingenfelter cams, or the crane 227 or some of the smaller lunati's

It's gonna be hard to get the big cam sound without a big cam. the 224/230 503 wont sound as bad as you think. I ran one in my Mustang and it sounded pretty nice.

I've got a GTP6 cam that has that same duration and other specs in my sig for the '95 TA with a stock bottom end. Makes 349rwhp at 6200rpm, would make more the higher it spins but I'm not spinning the bottom end any higher, so it makes for a real dog unless your cranking out the rpms.
At normal street driven rpms its way less power than a stocker....but sounds hella mean at idle.
I also have LE2 ported heads and ported intake... but this is with an A4, a M6 may be alittle tammer to drive on the street with it...cam surge when the tcc locks is a real biotch.

I had that cam ground on a 110lsa with a set of LE2 heads with a stock block. It had driving characteristics like stock, had a mean lope and after 3500 rpm it pulled like a ****.
Its for sale now since I blew a ring land and went with a custom cam for my blown 383 project. It has less than 500 miles on the cam and $200.00 shipped to your door.

Look at the xfi grinds if you don't want to rev high. The @.050 duration has less to do with RPM range of the cam than people want to think. I made 374 by 6000 with the computer pulling 5* of timing and on a mustang dyno.

I passed 374rwhp by 5300-5400 with a cam over 10 degrees smaller on both the intake/exhaust side.

And if you can afford a custom cam like speed demon, then this thread is pointless.

rebuilt stock bottom end will hold 7k all day...do a 306 and shift around 6600...youll be fine...keep good oil in it and keep it full( i ran mine extra quart) so it wont suck the pan dry and damage the bearings
